Arian's Art

SO.. Ive been sick all week. Today was my first day back.

Sick + No Ceramics = :(

Anyways - I haven't been able to make anything this week, or last week, or the week before.. I'm getting boring, I understand, and I'm sorry! I galzed three projects today though and hopefully they'll be out tomorrow so I can put up pictures! Yay!

Unforunately this week I haven't done much in the way of creating new projects in ceramics. We just got back from our Spring Break and I have been helping out around the classroom more than making projects for myself. My two mugs were bisqued and came out wonderfully! The smaller of the two I glazed today and it should be put through the gas kiln tonight. This week though I have primarily been making and testing glazes, helping around the class, and studying up on some different ceramic art facts and images. I've been trying to get an idea of what I should try making as a challenge or just something new for fun. So I've come up with a lot of idea this week, ho

Today I footed the two projects that I made yesterday and I pulled and slipped some handles on and... I LOVE THEM! :) Hope you like them too!

These are two projects that I threw today and I'm hoping to make one of them into a mug and the other one... Not sure yet. I guess it will be a surprise. Oh! I also had another vase come out of the bisque today and it looks really good! I'll put it up later.

1) Please describe your efforts towards participation and leadership. Did you take care to clean well? Mention if you were attentive at the beginning of class every day.

Personally I feel like I am adequately involved in paying attention in the beginning of classes, and I always clean at the end of the period, make sure to clean not only just my wheel and tools, but also the counter tops of the throwing room, seeing as that is my assigned cleaning duty.

2) How often do you use the pass?  Are you on task every day and all period? How social are you versus how much work do you do? How closely do you meet assignment deadlines?

I think I have only used the pass maybe once or twice. I am always on task and working on something during class. I have social, but on a respectable level, where I talk to the other students freely, but with respect as to not disrupt their works nor my own. Considering I am a second semester advanced student I do not have any restricted times for due dates, but I always get my project turned in in a timely fashion.

Hey look! Its me! Along with all the pictures of the proeject I am finally uploading, all of which have come out of the glaze kiln in the last two or so weeks. This week I haven't been able to successfully make anything, I have just been glazing all week, and last week too. Kinda lazy. But I do love my mug, vase, and pitcher that turned out :) plus I have more coming out tomorrow!

Well I haven't really done too much this week, didnt throw anything new, just finished glazing some projects, got 3 or 4 things out of the glaze kiln and a bunch more went in today. Plus, I finally finished my friend's mug, slipped and scored the handle on Monday, or maybe it was Tuesday.. I forget. The mug, as it was on the bisque shelf, is the photo on the far left and the other two photos are of the vase that I glazed today. The inside is that really cool looking dark blue and the outside is clear glaze stained with dark blue stain, I really hope it turns out well, it was more of an experiment. Ill put up photos of my other projects that came out of the glaze kiln today later, check them out!

Today is March 25th...
...and I just wanted to add in some photos that my friend Paige was nice enough to take for me, since I was gone today. So here are my two projects that came out of the glaze kiln today! I LOVE THEM!!!!! I am soooo happy with them! Hope you like them as much as me!

These are the only project I was able to make this week since we had the weird schedule due to HSPE testing - "the new WASL" - and I only had class 3 times. Anyways, I made all of these yesterday (Wednesday) and I was only able to foot the furthest on the left, since I was busy helping some of the newbies make their first wheel projects. Bagged the other two and hope to get to them tomorrow, hopefully they dont dry up.. Plus I was planning on making the one in the middle into a mug for my friend Paige, who has been dying for me to make her a mug! The one on the far right I like the most though, I love its shape and the form, but the base is WAY to thick, so I'll have to foot a lot off tomorrow, should s

These are two ceramic pieces I made this week, the one on the left I made on Monday and the taller vase on the right (I like this one the best!) I threw on Tuesday. Both of them are on the bisque shelf now and will hopefully be out next week. I also did a lot of glazing this week and I am really excited to see how they all turned out. Fingers crossed! Check in next week to see the final projects posted on my Gallery page! :) Thanks!

These are the only two projects that I made this week, I made them both on Tuesday and footed them yesterday. Monday I footed projects from last week and failed at making some new projects. Then the bisque came out on Wednesday (YAY!) and another comes out tomorrow! Plus a glaze kiln comes out tomorrow and I have 3 projects in that one, two vases a bowl. One of the vases was the flower looking one with a altered lip and its going to be  bright yellow. The other tall vase, which used to be my mug that broke,  is glazed in cobalt blue (we think), and the bowl is half cobalt, half turquoise (not positive, the glazes are all mixed up and no labels so... we'll see!). Anyways! I'm excited for them to come out! Ill have them up on my Grading Blog hope
