I glazed this project on monday, and it came out of the glaze kiln today, the stripes carved into it are white and the rest I glazed blue with a brush, so it came out a little uneven. But I still thought it looked neat. I'll put a picture of it up soon. Unfortunately I havent been able to make any projects this week, just not a good week for focusing I guess, hopefully my luck with kick in soon.

This is the improvement of my planter project that I made yesterday, today I footed it and added a small handmade piece :) its a nest with 3 eggs in it, I got the idea from the website I visited looking for theme ideas. If you look at my theme blog you'll see pots similar to this one I've made. I'm really happy with this one, and I can only hope that it makes it through the bisque and glaze kiln! Fingers crossed!
My multi-piece came out of the glaze kiln today as well, and although the glaze didn't turn out quite like I was thinking I really love how it turned out! I'll try and put up a photo of it soon.

This is a choice bowl that was made on the wheel. It is 3.25 inches tall and has a base of 2.75 in in diameter and a top of 5.75 inches in width. The bowl has a V shape to it, with a narrower base and wider top; it has a foot ring on the bottom and a smooth surface texture both inside and out. The entire bowl is glazed in cobalt blue with 4 swirls painted in metallic brown on the outer-side of the project, and one on the bottom of the inside of the bowl. The brown swirls however did not turn out out very vibrantly, so the contrast between the solid shape of the bowl, emphasized by the cobalt blue, and the flowing movement of the brown swirls was slightly lost.

This is a choice project that is a small vase. The vase is taller than it is wide and is a mere 4 by 2 inches is dimension. The vase has a small base, only ___ in in diameter, and the lip of the vase is about the same size, and it has a bit of a "kite" shape in that it has a wider middle that its top or bottom. The texture of the surface of the project, both inside and out, is smooth. The interior and the top half of the project is glazed in cobalt blue, and the bottom half is glazed in an off-white color. The transition between the light and dark colors in the glaze emphasize the dimensions of the vase in that it marks the widest part of the project where the widening affect from the bottom up meets the narrowing section growing towards the lip.

This is a lidded project that was thrown on the wheel, the bottom is a vase and the top a small lid with a knob on the top to grasp. The bottom vase is approximately 3.5 in tall by 3 in wide, and the lid has a diameter of 2.5 in. The bottom half of the vase is thicker than the top, it has a small outwardly curved lip at the top and a footed ring on the bottom. The surface of the vase, both interior and exterior is smooth. The top side of the lid is entirely glazed in cobalt blue, and the vase its self has two "circular dip marks" paralleling each other on its outer surface that are also cobalt blue, then the entire project in covered in a clear glaze. The color of the lid and the paralleling "dip marks" of the cobalt glaze on the vase give the entire project a sense of unity between the vase and its lid.

The vase on the far right is the skinny tall vase that I made earlier, It was just too difficult to try and foot so i carved some lines into it so it looks like leaves or grass reeds, I really like the look of it! The middle project is a planter that I decided to make today, a planter is the project that the beginners are working on right now so I figured I would make one too. I'm thinking I'm going to make this one my hand and wheel project by slipping and scoring on a small handmade object onto it. I think it will make a cute christmas present! And the picture on the far right is my multi-piece project as it looks on the glaze shelf, its glazed in shadow green and black that drips up and it splattered in black. I really hope it turns out looking cool :)

This is a small vase that is very similar to the shorter one I made last week. I'm trying to expand my variety of shapes of projects that I make, just to see what different forms I can make. I also got 4 or 5 projects out of the glaze kiln today, a couple of them I really like, others not so much. I really hope I have the opportunity to make some more projects before the quarter is over. Got to finish all those Christmas Projects.

This week I have mainly been focusing on getting my multi-piece project done in time, so I actually have even made anything else this week.. Sadly. But I have glazed a bunch of projects, and put a couple more on the bisque shelf to be fired this weekend, hopefully I will be able to get everything done in time for the end of the quarter. Over all this week has been kind of boring, havent really had the chance to make much in ceramics.. Hopefully ill be able to do more this

This is the top half project for my multi-piece project, I made this and the bottom half, which is simply a small cylinder, yesterday, and I cleared some clay from the bottom of this one and cut the cylinder to fit. At the moment they're in my locker bagged with some wet clay so I can slip them together tomorrow.

I'll begin looking for themes soon.. I've been thinking about some ideas lately and I'll put them up on my new blog on the Theme page. Check it out!
